Strawberry lime soda mocktail with ice, lime and fresh strawberry

Strawberry Lime Soda Recipe: An Alcohol-Free Berry Highball

Alcohol-FreeReady in 3 MinutesSweet & TartEasy to Batch

A tall glass of strawberry lime soda is one of the easiest drinks you can make on a hot Pakistani afternoon. Sweet strawberry, a sharp squeeze of lime and plenty of fizz give you the look and feel of a café highball, with no alcohol and no blender.

The trick is Melina Strawberry Syrup. It gives you a consistent strawberry flavour and a bright red colour in every glass, so you don't need to muddle fresh fruit or cook a syrup yourself.

Why This Recipe Works

Strawberry on its own can taste flat and sugary. Lime juice adds acidity that lifts the fruit, and chilled soda water stretches the drink so it stays light instead of syrupy. Adding the soda last keeps as many bubbles as possible, which is what makes it feel like a proper highball.

Because the syrup is already balanced, the recipe works the same way every time. That matters if you are making ten glasses for guests or serving it on a café menu.

Ingredients

30 ml Melina Strawberry SyrupThe sweet, fruity base (about 2 tablespoons)
15 ml fresh lime juiceAround half a lime
150–180 ml chilled soda waterOr lemon-lime soda for a sweeter drink
Ice cubesEnough to fill a tall glass
GarnishA fresh strawberry, lime wheel or a few mint leaves

How to Make Strawberry Lime Soda

1
Fill the glass with ice
Use a tall highball glass and pack it with ice. More ice means slower melting and a colder, fizzier drink.
2
Add the syrup and lime juice
Pour 30 ml of Melina Strawberry Syrup and 15 ml of lime juice over the ice.
3
Stir to combine
Give it a quick stir so the syrup doesn't sit at the bottom of the glass.
4
Top with soda water
Pour the chilled soda slowly down the side of the glass, then stir once, gently, from the bottom up.
5
Garnish and serve
Add a strawberry or lime wheel on the rim and serve straight away while it's fizzy.

Tips for the Best Result

Chill everythingCold soda holds its bubbles far better than soda at room temperature.
Soda goes in lastStirring hard after adding soda knocks the fizz out. One gentle stir is enough.
Use fresh limeBottled lime juice tastes flatter. Fresh juice gives the drink its sparkle.
Adjust with syrup, not sugarFor a sweeter drink add 5–10 ml more syrup rather than sugar, which won't dissolve in cold soda.

Variations to Try

Strawberry Mint MojitoMuddle 6–8 mint leaves with the lime juice first, then continue as above. You can add 10 ml of Melina Mint Syrup for a stronger mint flavour.
Strawberry LemonadeSwap soda water for still water and use lemon instead of lime for a classic pink lemonade.
Strawberry TonicUse tonic water instead of soda for a slightly bitter, grown-up finish.
Berry MixUse 20 ml strawberry and 10 ml Blueberry Syrup for a deeper berry colour.

Making It for a Party

For 8 glasses, mix 240 ml of strawberry syrup with 120 ml of lime juice in a jug and keep it in the fridge. When guests arrive, pour about 45 ml of the mix into each ice-filled glass and top each one with soda. Adding soda glass by glass, instead of to the jug, keeps every drink fizzy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this drink alcohol-free?

Yes. This recipe contains no alcohol. Melina syrups are also alcohol-free and halal friendly.

Can I use fresh strawberries instead of syrup?

You can, but you'll need to blend or muddle them and add sugar, and the colour and sweetness will vary with the fruit. The syrup gives the same result every time.

Can I make it ahead for guests?

Yes. Mix the syrup and lime juice in advance and keep it chilled. Add ice and soda to each glass only when serving.

Is it very sweet?

It's balanced rather than heavy. The lime and soda cut the sweetness. Use 20 ml of syrup for a lighter drink or 40 ml for a sweeter one.
